This privacy policy was last updated on 15th August 2023. We introduced comments for newsletter subscribers, but only on newsletter articles.

Summary

This document informs you of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, disclosure and protection of information that apply to this website, as well as your choices regarding the collection and use of information.

We try our best to minimise the data we collect. We do not share your data with any third parties unless required to operate our service. We only use your personal data for the exact reason it was provided.

There are no tracking scripts on this site. We don't track page views. Nor do we track opens or clicks on email updates, if you choose to subscribe to them. We simply don't care how many visitors we get, or what they do on the site. This site is a hobby not a business.

Email Newsletter

We offer an email newsletter. You may choose to subscribe to this newsletter on the relevant page on our site. To do this, we collect your name and email address. No other information is collected, and the information collected is used only to send notifications when a new article is published on this site. Personal data collected about subscribers is not used for any other purpose. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the footer of any newsletter email.

We do track the login dates of newsletter subscribers when they click-through to the site. However, we don't track what pages logged in users view, or how logged in users interact with pages. We just track the log in history and subscription dates of newsletter subscribers as well as any comments and likes/dislikes that subscribers leave on newsletter articles.

Email subscriber data is stored by the Ghost Foundation in the European Union. The newsletter emails are sent through the Ghost Foundation on our behalf using Mailgun.

We do set cookies for logged in users. These cookies are only set on the newsletter pages of the site, and are required for the log in functionality to work.

Comments

Newsletter subscribers also have the option of leaving comments on newsletter articles this requires logging into the site and accepting the associated log in functional cookies. We may privately contact you about any comments you leave using the email address on your subscription. Your email address is not displayed next to any comments you leave on the site. However, we do display the name in your profile alongside all comments, as well as your gravatar (if you have one). You can edit your profile name under your profile settings.

We reserve to edit, delete, move or mark as spam any comment that you leave on the site. We also reserve the right to block access to comments or to the entire site for any reason.

Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), to provide the Service on our behalf. These Service Providers may collect and store data, as well as store cookies on your device. Unless otherwise listed above, any such collection and storage will be limited to data required to operate the service.

We use Cloudflare for web optimisation and security services. Cloudflare does collect and store data including IP addresses to provide this service. Specific details about what they collect can be found in their Privacy Policy. As part of their normal operation, Cloudflare do store cookies on your device.
